Shot in Sichuan Province, China, the picture shows the young dog standing over its lifeless companion as it emits sorrowful, high-pitched howls.
When Mr. Xiong, a passerby, approached to help, he discovered one dog was already dead, while the other was on the brink of death. Despite the puppy’s reluctance to leave its companion, Mr. Xiong wrapped it in a cloth and brought it to his workplace, where he and his colleagues provided it with food.
Unable to keep the dog themselves, they took it to an animal shelter in the hopes that it would find a loving forever home.
