Kathryn Bernardo is Gelli de Belen and Candy Pangilinan’s favorite actress among the current crop of female celebrities, citing the former’s talent and good personality.
Sitting down on Luis Manzano’s vlog, Luis Listens, last January 23, de Belen and Pangilinan were asked who among the current roster of artists they think is a superstar in the making, if not one already, and both of them named Bernardo.
“Kathryn. Mahusay siyang artista,” said Pangilinan.
De Belen added, “Saka, she’s a good girl. She’s well-rounded. She’s a sweet girl. She’s brave. One of the nicest I met in the industry. I love her.”
Janice de Belen, who agreed with her friends’ answer, said, “She seems tough,” while also noting that it is her daughter, Kaila Estrada, whom she admires in the current batch of actors.
“Lalayo pa ba ako edi ‘yung anak ko na lang, si Kaila. I’m waiting to see what she can become,” said Janice.
Advice to aspiring young actors
The trio is currently starring in their first team-up movie, “Roadtrip,” together with Carmina Villaroel. Given their experience working in the entertainment industry, the three actresses also extended advice to aspiring young actors who want to make a mark in showbiz.
“Focus on the work, because the likes and followers are important and help a lot, but at the end of the day, it’s the work that will carry you on longer. Magiging susi sa longevity is the work that you do,” said Gelli.
Janice echoed her sister’s answer by stating, “If this is your bread and butter, oo nga may sweldo, pero sana habang sumusweldo ka put in the work. Love your job also, and then slowly, your job will love you back.”
While Pangilinan affirmed that being an actor is not just about the fame and money, but the responsibility that comes with it, “There’s accountability, responsibility, and commitment to your audience,” she said.
