If you own a dog or two, you know what a mission impossible clipping their nails is. You sweat, they bark, you sing, they get distracted, you shout, they ain’t givin’ a damn. And it’s on repeat until you get a few good patches of gray hair and their nails look quasi-alright.
But one Oklahoma woman named Lindsey Shelton may just have found a simple yet genius solution. You see, the 27-year-old had nothing to lose, so she smeared peanut butter on top of her head. And it worked wonders! The doggo was having a sweet blast with little clue of what was actually happening. Apparently, the pupper in the video named Schmidt let her clip all of his nails, and, I guess, asked for more.
Lindsey’s TikTok clip has now gone viral with 480K likes, which means peanut butter will be flying off the shelves and dog nail art is gonna be big.

At the beginning of the clip, the dog mama wraps cling film around her head and begins smearing Jif peanut butter all over her forehead. She then shuts down any possible criticism: “This peanut butter does not have Xylitol, before you all freak out.” Xylitol is a sugar alternative that looks and tastes like sugar, but is lower in calories.
The substance is known to be extremely toxic to dogs, far more dangerous than chocolate. According to Ahna Burtlag, the associate director at Pet Poison Clinic, xylitol is quickly absorbed into a dog’s bloodstream when consumed. That results in the rapid release of insulin and hypoglycemia, which occurs after 10-60 minutes of eating the xylitol.

Bored Panda spoke to 27-year-old Lindsey, who works as an ICU travel nurse. It turns out, the Oklahoma-born girl has been fostering and rescuing dogs for about 6 years now. “I truly believe that if we could enforce spay and neuter laws that it would save thousands of animal lives every year.”
Lindsey told us that the hilarious peanut butter hack idea came out of boredom in quarantine. “Truly, I was super bored and putting it on the floor didn’t work.” That’s when the eureka moment happened. “I wanted it on my head, but didn’t want it in my hair,” she explained. Most importantly, “the dog loved it because he is a foodie like his mom!”
Lindsey encourages everyone to look into fostering and volunteering with their local shelters. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next dog parent to try out the now-viral hack!
