Hopeful fans clamoring for a “Hello, Love, Goodbye” sequel were filled with excitement after film director Cathy Garcia-Sampana made references to the blockbuster movie while in Hong Kong.

In a video on her Instagram page on Thursday, April 11, Garcia-Sampana was walking in a Hong Kong airport with “Hello, Love, Goodbye” writer Carmi Raymundo and one other companion.

The director then remarked: “May mga lugar na dinadaanan lang,” which is a phrase from the Kathryn Bernardo-Alden Richards starrer filmed in Hong Kong.

The three of them were also heard in the clip talking about the film’s shooting spot, with mentions of “Hello, Goodbye” and “Joy,” the character portrayed by Bernardo.

The comments section was immediately swarmed with calls for a “Hello, Love Goodbye” follow-up, with some looking forward to Garcia-Sampana and Raymundo’s reunion with Bernardo.

Meanwhile, Garcia-Sampana earlier dismissed claims that Bernardo’s ex-boyfriend, actor Daniel Padilla, prevented the actress from doing the sequel despite the project being already in place.

“Hindi naman si Daniel [ang dahilan], kasi hindi naman kayang hadlangan ni Daniel ang gano’ng kalaking proyekto. Tsaka si Kathryn naman ay may sariling isip—’pag gusto niya, gusto niya,” the director said in an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal.

(Daniel was not the reason it hasn’t pushed through yet, because he doesn’t have the power to stop such a big project. Also, Kathryn has a decision of her own—if she wants it, she wants it.)

“Ito po ay matagal na ring pinag-iisipan ang part two kaya lang maraming nangyari… [Hindi] lang talaga natuloy. Hopefully, with God’s permission, matuloy na siya,” she added.

(The making of part two has been talked about for some time now, but a lot has happened. It just didn’t push through. Hopefully, with God’s permission, we can finally make it happen.)

The clamor for the sequel resurfaced recently on social media after Bernardo and Richards reunited on the actress’ birthday in March.

Richards also earlier addressed the speculations of a budding romance between them, saying “What you see is what you get.”
