Cigna expands ACA coverage to 93 new counties

Cigna is expanding its health coverage offerings in three new states and 93 new counties for customers using the Affordable Care Act marketplaces.

Pending final regulatory approvals, Cigna’s individual and family plans will be available in Georgia, Mississippi and Pennsylvania, as well as in additional counties in Arizona, Florida and Virginia, potentially reaching 1.5 million new customers.

“Cigna remains intently focused on providing access to high-quality, cost-effective and stable healthcare coverage individuals and families need and deserve,” Matt Manders, president of Cigna’s government and solutions segment, said in a news release. “We are meeting customers where they are and closing critical coverage gaps. We look forward to introducing new solutions and services on the individual exchanges in 2022 and beyond.”

Along with its expansion, the Bloomfield, Connecticut-based insurer will offer enhanced services such as personalized support for chronic health conditions and more access to simple tools and resources.

By the start of next, Cigna will sell marketplace plans in a total of 13 states and 313 counties, adding to its base of 14 million policyholders.
