An animal shelter in Spain is on the hunt for homes for a whopping 120 cats after their owner was evicted leaving them with nowhere to go.
The cats were rescued by SPAMA Safor, an animal shelter in Valencia, which initially believed there were 96 cats that needed picking up – but in a recent post on social media, the charity says it has now taken 120 cats from the flat and are now working on vaccinating and neutering them all as well on the hunt for new homes.
The cats were left homeless after they and their owner were kicked out of their apartment, which measured just 100 sq metres (1,000 sq ft).

Salvadora Tormas, who works with the shelter, told AFP: “Apparently the owner took in a pair of cats three years ago and they have been procreating ever since.”
The charity says it does not have enough space for all the cats as it is already looking after 200 others and is urging people to consider adopting or fostering one or more of the animals.
Tormas said they had collected 48 cats of Friday and planned to pick up the rest on Saturday with the help of the owner, who she described as a ‘young’ man.
She added: “It’s a disaster. Someone should have helped this guy.”
In a post on Facebook the shelter initially said it was going to collect ‘about 90’ cats from a home in Gandia.

But it appears as though once they got there they found there was even more cats than they originally thought, as an update explains: “So far we have collected 120 cats from this house. Cats who haven’t seen sunshine and haven’t received any veterinary care, or deworming since they were born, even though they haven’t been hungry. Together males and females raising in every heat.”
It goes on to add that the cats are ‘scared’ but urges anyone who wants to foster or adopt to get in touch.
Here’s hoping the little dudes all find loving new homes – you can find out more about SPAMA Safor here.
