Doctors were left astonished when they discovered a 9-month-old baby had a tumor in his mouth and successfully removed it. The mother was absolutely shocked when she found out it was actually a toy she had bought for her child.

A mother immediately took her 9-month-old son to the doctor after discovering a strange object in his mouth, which led the doctors to suspect it could be a tumor. Later, the doctors uncovered an unexpected truth.

Rowan Steiner, a 30-year-old mother from Utah, USA, was changing her 9-month-old son Max’s diaper when the baby suddenly cried, and she noticed a lump in his mouth.

She immediately took him to the doctor. The doctors were confused and unable to identify the lump, saying, "I’ve never seen a case like this before."

Max was referred to a pediatric dentist and an oral surgeon, but neither could identify the blue-colored lump in the baby’s mouth, suspecting it could be a tumor caused by an abnormal blo.od vessel.

The medical team prepared to have Max undergo a CT scan, but before proceeding, another doctor examined the lump and suspected it was not a pathological condition, but rather an object created by humans.

The doctors used dental instruments to check the edges of the strange lump. When they cut it open, they discovered that the suspected tumor was actually a piece of a toy that Max’s mother had bought for her children.

Rowan recalled, “The lead doctor used a toothpick and pried the edge of the lump open. It popped out forcefully, with some blood, because it was so tightly wedged into my son’s gums."

“The area around the edge of the lump was swollen so much that it was almost impossible to see the edge of the toy. It was stuck so tightly that it wouldn’t budge even when touched.”

“All day long, the doctors kept talking about the possibility that it was a toy. We were open to that idea because I have five children, and 9-month-old babies tend to put everything in their mouths these days.”

She added that while there were many speculations that it could be a toy, she never thought it would bring such relief. However, after learning the truth, she felt it was "the best outcome" after having been worried that it might actually be a tumor.

The mother said she, the baby’s father, and some doctors had touched the toy several times before the lead doctor removed it and confirmed what it was.

Rowan was relieved it wasn’t a tumor and that her son had not choked on a small toy.

“Finally, be extra careful, especially with young children,” she said. “I know the toys we buy are cheap, brand-name items from Amazon.”

“I know there are thicker, higher-quality brands, but you should always take care of them and make sure the toys are still intact when kids play with them.”
