Fines Doubled And Weddings Capped At 15 People Under New Coronavirus Rules

The Prime Minister has announced that from Monday only 15 people will be allowed to attend weddings and wedding receptions, as well as applying the ‘rule of six’ to indoor team sports.

Johnson addressed the House of Commons this afternoon, stating that ‘this is the moment that we must act’ as coronavirus cases continue to surge across the UK.

He added that funerals will still be capped at 30 people, but also outlined that fines for failing to wear a mask or breaking the rule of six will now be doubled to £200 for a first offence.

The Prime Minister also warned that ‘significantly greater restrictions’ could come into force if the numbers did not start to turn in the right direction.
