BTS’ V opens up about his late Grandmother’s Influence on his Life and Career

BTS’ V reminisced about his time with his late grandmother.

V appeared on the tvN talk show ‘You Quiz on the Block‘  that aired on September 6. During his time on the show, the global idol shared various things about his upcoming solo debut mini-album ‘Layover.’ He also shared personal anecdotes about himself that garnered much attention.

On that day, V mentioned Na Hoon-a‘s “Ripe Persimmon” and said, “It’s a song Jungkook taught me.” He continued, “I really like Senior Na Hoon-a. I grew up under my grandmother, so I like those songs. I really like trot music,” reminiscing his childhood.

Diving further into his past, V evoked poignant memories of his grandmother. He said, “When I was young, I used to sleep in my grandmother’s room, holding onto her every day. When I was a child, I held a pen and imagined it was a sword before going to sleep. I woke up with scribbles on both my face and my grandmother’s face. When my grandmother had guests, she shared her Bacchus drink with them. Taking a sip of it was my little joy.

He also shared, “My grandmother passed away due to illness. I had to perform during that time. I felt like I was going to cry if I did while performing, so it was so tough. I hoped that my grandmother would see me performing in front of the countless ARMYs.” He added, “When I visit her grave, I bring a box of Bacchus drinks to her.
