‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ sets record-breaking rating and online concurrent viewership amid new rival show’s pilot airing

FPJ’s Batang Quiapo logged a combined live concurrent viewers of 501,000+ on Youube and Facebook, on Monday, September 11, the day  its new rival show debuted.

Kapamilya action-drama, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, continues to assert leadership on primetime, amid the arrival of a new contender on Monday. Online, Coco Martin’s reign as the undisputed primetime king, is unquestionable, as  the top rating drama regularly draws no less than 300,000 live concurrent viewers nightly, on YouTube alone. On the day its new rival Kapuso show, Maging Sino Ka Man, debuted, however, the Coco Martin-starrer soared even higher, pulling off more than half a million live concurrent viewers on YouTube and Facebook.

Maging Sino Ka Man, like FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, is an adaptation of a popular Filipino film. Starred by GMA Network’s new prized loveteam, Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, aka BarDa, the new Kapuso primetime drama, is the third Kapuso series to contend with the Coco Martin-starrer, since Maria Clara At Ibarra, which, interestingly, also starred BarDa.

FPJ’s Batang Quiapo drew more than 478,400 live viewers on YouTube, while it generated more than 23,100 on Facebook, registering 501,500 combined live concurrent viewers on both platforms; other sources logged slightly higher numbers. This record-breaking episode notably featured the continuation of Ramon (Christopher de Leon) and Monique’s (Lovi Poe) wedding, which seemingly ended in a chaotic bomb explosion, orchestrated by Olga (Irma Adlawan). It also featured the failed breakout scheme planned by Tanggol’s friends, and the first meeting of Coco Martin and Ivana Alawi’s respective characters, Tanggol and Bubbles.

Ratings-wise, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo remains unstoppable, pulling off a new all-time high people rating of 15.9, according to Nielsen Philippines. That’s 4.5 points ahead of its closest competitor, Maging Sino Ka Man, which managed to post 11.4. The Kapamilya series is also notably way ahead its new Kapuso rival, on Kantar Philippines’ scorecard, which reported a 25.9% household ratings for the Kapamilya show,  and 17.9% for the Barbie Forteza-led teleserye.
