After finally revealing the identity of her first official boyfriend in showbiz last month, AC Bonifacio reacted to persistent rumors linking her to fellow Star Magic artist Darren Espanto who was also her onscreen partner in iWantTV’s romantic comedy drama musical Lyric & Beat last year. Netizens have been speculating on their relationship status after seeing the pair enjoying their time together on and off screen.
“Oh my gosh (laughs). It’s just so funny. Tumatawa na lang ako, kami actually. Kasi kami ni Darren we’ve made it clear in our careers and in our friendship kung ano talaga kami. But he really is my bestest friend in the whole wide world and we just laugh. There’s people bashing me, there’s people who support it, there’s people who have theories, and it’s like, do your thing. Darren and I have a good, supportive friendship and that’s where it’s going
Since getting into showbiz after becoming the first ever grand champion of Filipino TV dance competition Dance Kids in 2016, AC said she is happy to branch out into doing more acting this year. But that does not automatically mean that her dancing will now take the back seat.
“I think the shift is part of my career but it’s just going to be an additional thing to my career. It’s not something that means I’m going to take out dancing, take out singing, take out hosting. Kasi passion ko talaga sayaw but now that we’re getting into acting, I’m slowly getting there and I’m slowly just trying to learn from other actors and actresses. To be in this movie with like, literally, veterans and legends,” she explained.
As part of the cast of the “Mukbang” episode of Regal Entertainment’s upcoming horror trilogy Shake, Rattle, & Roll Extreme, AC said she is looking forward to doing her first horror film project. The episode was directed by award-winning director Jerrold Tarog and also stars Paul Salas, Jane Oineza, RK Bagatsing, Ninong Ry, and Esnyr Ranollo. AC said she could not believe she was chosen to be part of the cast.
“Si kuya Paul (Salas) kasi pinapanuod ko when I was a baby pa (laughs). So I’m just learning and I’m just going to go with the flow with how my career goes now,” she added.
After performing in the ASAP in Milan show last September, AC revealed the reason she finally showed more of her sexy side in a bikini post while enjoying Lake Como in Italy.
“Oh my gosh, that’s me getting older na (laughs). But the red hair, we went red for myself, my newest single that came out back in May pa and it’s just been a consistent thing with me. I feel like it’s become me. I had red nails at one point and I was really just in my red era. The bikini pics are coming because I feel like I need to slowly start shifting, to tell people that I’m getting older, kasi mukha talaga akong baby minsan. When I meet people, they’re like, ‘How old are you?’ and when I say ‘I’m 20, I’m turning 21,’ they’re like, ‘No, I thought you’re 13 or like 12!’ ganun, so I really need to start letting people know that I’m kind of getting there, I’m kind of in that age na. at saka may consent pa from mom, so okay na okay (laughs),” she explained.
Since coming to the Philippines to pursue her showbiz career, the Canada-born dancer and actress said she has come to appreciate getting the opportunity to travel constantly for her career.
“I’ve been doing a lot of traveling this year and it’s usually for work. I love doing work here and whether it’s in Canada or the US, it’s always been a consistent thing in my career na pag may work sa Canada or sa US, I would fly there. And when there’s work here then I stay here. My management is very, very accommodating and they’re so helpful and so supportive with anything that I do. So with any projects that I have, they’re really full force and they support me in it. So whatever works in my career, whatever flows into my career, I’m going to be doing,” she explained.
