On December 29th, Shin Hyun-joon posted on Instagram a photo showing him visiting the park in Jongno-gu, Seoul where Lee Sun-kyun was found dead.
Without a caption, the picture shows Shin Hyun-joon putting a bouquet of flowers, alcohol, and snacks in the park.
Earlier, Shin Hyun-joon commented on a post by a fellow actor in remembrance of Lee Sun-kyun, saying “Threats are murder”, showing his sympathy towards the pain that the deceased had suffered.
However, the way Shin Hyun-joon mourned the deceased faced criticism. Netizens pointed out that the actor’s actions of visiting the park where Lee Sun-kyun was found dead instead of the funeral home and even capturing such moments to share on SNS were excessive. Some commented, “I can’t believe we are living in the era where people display another person’s death on SNS”.
Shin Hyun-joon’s post spread rapidly in various online communities and heated debates have been raised. Later, Shin Hyun-joon deleted the post as if he was aware of the criticism.
In addition, several other celebrities have recently faced backlash for putting the blame of Lee Sun-kyun’s death on the public.
