Considering Spider-Man’s popularity, the studios have ventured into multiple shows, movies, and games based on the web-swinging superhero. And one of them also featured Andrew Garfield. He starred in The Amazing Spider-Man film series and reprised his role in the 2014 sequel of the film. His venture to play the superhero onscreen ended with the 2014 film, and Marvel Studios introduced a new Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016
Tom Holland, who made his MCU debut in the 2016 film, has been featured in multiple Marvel films as the web-swinging superhero and is also expected to feature in a fourth Spider-Man film. Garfield, who has also portrayed the character earlier, shared that he wanted to be part of the Avengers as well.
The same year as his debut as Spider-Man, the Marvel superheroes assembled for the first time on screen in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers. Andrew Garfiled’s The Amazing Spider-Man was set to release a few months after the Marvel film, and the actor also wanted to join the battle of New York against Loki and his Chitauri army.
During an interview with Vulture, Garfield shared that after he saw the movie, he also wanted to be a part of the franchise. “I saw it, and I was blown away,” he said before adding that he was excited to watch the film again. He loved the movie so much that he was jealous he wasn’t in the film with its “incredible cast.”
“I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them,” he said. The Mainstream actor also praised the director and the cast of the film as he called Joss Whedon a “genius” and referred to the cast as “incredible.”
While Garfield wished for an opportunity to join the Avengers, Tom Holland was by their side since his MCU debut. He joined Iron Man in the 2016 film and has also had a significant part in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
Andrew Garfield on Teaming Up With The Avengers
Although he was not able to join the Avengers, Andrew Garfield did make it to the MCU with the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home. He joined Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland as Spider-Man, which led many to believe that the multiverse saga of the MCU could bring him back in future projects as well. However, according to the Tick Tick Boom actor, he might not get along with one of the Avengers.
He shared that he believes that his Spider-Man “would be pretty suspect of MCU Iron Man.” He further said, “I think he would be a little turned off by the excess, the billionaire, trillionaire status of Iron Man.” He claimed that it would have a wrong impression of his version of Spider-Man, and they might not get along initially.
