Captain Tom Moore, 100, has revealed he was caught speeding the last time he drove, and had to go on ‘one of those speed awareness courses’.
The centenarian appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories last night, following his incredible NHS fundraising earlier this year.
But while we’re used to seeing Moore and his walker doing laps around the garden, he recently ran into a spot of bother with another mode of travel.
Moore told host Piers Morgan how he got caught speeding in a 30mph zone, recalling: “That was not fair. I mean 38mph for somebody like me. It was nothing.

“I went on one of these speed awareness courses. Having had to pay, it cost you more than your points.”

He admitted he found the course ‘boring’, and said he would stick to the speed limit in future – with hopes to get back behind the wheel soon after stopping due to a leg injury.
Naturally, Morgan also asked the veteran about his incredible NHS fundraiser in April, which saw him complete laps of his garden to raise money for NHS Chairities Together.

Originally he hoped to raise £1,000 by completing 100 laps by his 100th birthday, but it wasn’t long before he completely smashed his target.

By the time he reached his landmark birthday, Moore had managed to raise more than £30 million.
Moore said that he still continues to walk daily around his garden in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire.

“I said I’d go on while people are subscribing and I will,” he said.
“I get up at 6.30am and get going.
“I do believe in daily exercise, maybe that has kept me going all this time.
“When I was small I had a little bicycle and when I got older I had a dog and I used to go on long walks whenever we could.

“For the rest of my life I have always been active and maybe that is one of the reasons I have managed to stay so long.”

Morgan was also sure to see if the fame had gone to Moore’s head, but judging from requests for his dressing room, he’s still keeping it real – albeit ‘unashamed ladies’ man’.
Morgan said: “He asked if he could come on the show, and on his rider was a can of coke, Dairy Milk chocolate bar and six blondes.”
