In the final episode of tvN’s Saturday-Sunday drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji-eun, directed by Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won), which aired on April 28th, Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in miraculously overcome numerous crises that come their way, firmly holding onto each other’s side and putting a beautiful period to their epic destiny narrative.
Accordingly, the final episode of “Queen of Tears” recorded astounding viewership ratings of an average of 28.4% with a peak of 31% in the Seoul metropolitan area, and an average of 24.9% with a peak of 27.3% nationwide, securing the top spot in the same time slot across all channels, including terrestrial ones, and demonstrating the dignity of the undeniably popular “trending romantic comedy”. It not only broke its own record for the highest viewership rating but also surpassed “Crash Landing on You”, setting a new record for the highest viewership rating in tvN drama history.
Regarding the 2049 (viewers aged 20~49) ratings, “Queen of Tears” recorded an average of 11.8% and a peak of 12.8% in the Seoul metropolitan area, as well as an average of 12.1% and a peak of 13.3% nationwide, breaking its own highest viewership rating for 8 consecutive weeks. It captured the top spot in the same time slot across all channels, including terrestrial ones (based on cable, IPTV and satellite integrated paid platform / provided by Nielsen Korea).
Meanwhile, “Queen of Tears” will soothe viewers’ regrets by airing a special broadcast for two days on May 4th and 5th after its conclusion.
