Actress Shin Eun-kyung confessed that she underwent double-jaw surgery to cover her younger brother’s rent, contradicting her past explanation of not receiving money
On the Feb 5th broadcast of tvN STORY’s “The President’s People”, she said, “I heard that I was the first actress to undergo double-jaw surgery.“
She recalled, “I never even thought about getting double-jaw surgery, and I didn’t care much about my appearance because I had a neutral image. But my brother was living as a tenant. His lease ended, and he had to find another place to live, but I didn’t have the means to help him.”
She went on to explain, “My brother was in immediate trouble. I had no way of making money to help him. At that time, someone offered to pay me for modeling if I underwent double-jaw surgery. So I underwent the surgery and provided a home for my brother. I kept this story to myself.“
Upon hearing this, Kim Soo-mi comforted, “You probably couldn’t talk about getting surgery due to such circumstances back then. I thought you were doing it to become more beautiful.”
Previously, Shin Eun-kyung appeared on SBS’s “Healing Camp” in April 2012, where she mentioned “I didn’t have any dissatisfaction with my image. I wasn’t a pretty actress, so I thought it was a time when I needed a change“, revealing that she underwent double-jaw surgery due to her neutral image.
When asked “There are rumors that you underwent double-jaw surgery for money. Did you receive money for the surgery?“, she responded, “Double-jaw surgery surgery is different from other surgeries, as it can be life-threatening. If you receive money, you should receive compensation for your life, but how much would that be? It’s not like that. It’s a tremendous surgery that takes 3 months to recover.”
