2 Types of Vegetables That Are Prone to Becoming a ‘Parasitic Nest,’ Especially the First One

Vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet, but not all of them are as safe as they appear. According to food safety experts, some types of vegetables are more likely to harbor parasites, which can pose serious health risks if consumed without proper cleaning.

The first type of vegetable on this list is leafy greens such as lettuce, spinach, and cabbage. Their layered structure and moist surfaces make them an ideal hiding place for parasitic eggs and larvae. If not washed thoroughly, these greens can become a direct pathway for parasites to enter the human body.

The second type is herbs, including coriander, basil, and mint. Because they are usually eaten raw and have many small leaves and stems, they are difficult to clean completely, increasing the chance of parasite contamination.

Health specialists recommend soaking vegetables in salt water or vinegar solution, followed by rinsing under running water, to reduce the risk. Cooking when possible is also an effective way to kill hidden parasites.

Being aware of these risks and handling vegetables carefully can help protect your health and prevent unwanted infections.
