A 24-year-old woman in China has been hospitalized with a severe stomach perforation after frequently skipping breakfast and relying on a trendy beverage favored by many young people.
According to doctors, the woman had been drinking this sugary, caffeinated beverage every morning for months, believing it was a quick and convenient alternative to breakfast. However, over time, the habit caused serious damage to her stomach lining, eventually leading to a perforation—a life-threatening condition where a hole forms in the stomach wall.
Medical experts warn that drinks high in acid, caffeine, or sugar—such as milk tea, energy drinks, and coffee-based beverages—can irritate the stomach, especially when consumed on an empty stomach. This can trigger gastritis, ulcers, and even perforations if the behavior continues over time.
