4 bedtime secrets that will keep you healthier than supplements

With the development of the economy, most people’s living conditions are gradually improving. In the past, people did not have the time or money to take care of their health, but now they have the means to do the best for their bodies.

Every part of our body deserves care and respect, but did you know that the feet play a crucial role in maintaining health? According to traditional Chinese medicine, the feet are considered the “second heart” of the human body.

The feet contain many nerves connected to the internal organs. Health experts often recommend soaking the feet in warm water for 30 minutes before bedtime to promote blood circulation, soothe the nerves, and improve sleep quality.

Better than supplements, doing these 4 things 30 minutes before bed will help you sleep well and live longer.

In addition, there are four other practices that are extremely beneficial to your health. Doing them in the evening will help you fall asleep more easily and contribute to longevity.

1. Gently tap the soles of your feet

Before going to bed at night, sit on the bed and gently tap the soles of your feet with your hands. The ideal number is 100 taps, followed by 50 taps on the left and right soles, repeating the cycle twice.

The intensity should be moderate, otherwise it may cause pain. Tapping the feet before bedtime can relieve fatigue after a long day, boost blood circulation, and enhance detoxification.

2. Massage the big toe and little toe

Massaging the big toe is beneficial for health. How to do it: Hold the big toe with both hands and rub it in circular motions. This can be done 2–3 times a day, about 2 minutes each time.

After that, massage the little toe. Since the little toe is closely linked to memory and is also the reflex zone of the cerebellum, massaging it can help improve memory. The method is the same as with the big toe.

3. Apply alcohol and massage the Yongquan acupoint

The Yongquan acupoint is the only acupuncture point located on the sole of the foot, between the second and third metatarsal bones. It is also the lowest acupoint on the human body.

As we know, the feet are the farthest from the heart and receive the least blood supply, making it difficult to keep them warm.

To alleviate this, you can pour some alcohol into a cup, dip your hand in it, and massage the Yongquan point 100 times. Massage both the left and right feet to maintain yin-yang balance, improve blood circulation in the lower body, relax muscles, and warm the body.

4. Massage the soles of your feet

Foot massage is also an excellent way to care for your health. First, lie flat on the bed, raise both feet, and rub them against each other to warm them up before massaging.

How to do it: Rub the soles of your feet with your hands, ideally 20 times on each sole. This can promote local blood circulation, enhance the detoxification function of the internal organs, and prevent problems such as numbness, cold extremities, and walking difficulties in the elderly.

What should we pay attention to when massaging the feet?

People with diabetes must be especially cautious. First, wash your feet thoroughly with warm water and soap. Afterward, apply an appropriate amount of lotion to moisturize, but avoid the spaces between the toes.

In addition, do not massage the feet within one hour after meals. Otherwise, blood supply to vital organs may be insufficient, leading to headaches or dizziness. Those with high blood pressure or heart disease should also take extra care.

While massaging, it is advisable to drink a cup of warm water to accelerate metabolism. Each session should last no longer than 5 minutes.
