4 Places You Should Never Keep Your Mobile Phone — It Can Seriously Harm Your Health
Keeping your phone in certain positions can have negative effects on your body. Here are four common but harmful habits many people don’t realize can affect their health.
1. Keeping your phone in your pants pocket
Many people carry their phone in their pants pocket for convenience, so they can use it anytime without needing a bag or holding it in their hand. However, this habit can pose hidden health risks — especially for men.
Mobile phones emit electromagnetic radiation and can heat up, raising the temperature of surrounding tissues. Several studies have shown that keeping a phone close to the groin area may negatively affect male reproductive health.
Additionally, both men and women who keep their phones in their pockets can put extra pressure on the sciatic nerve when sitting, increasing the risk of sciatic pain or spinal misalignment.
2. Placing your phone near your head while sleeping
Many people leave their phone right next to their head while sleeping so they can reach it easily. However, this can harm sleep quality and even pose a fire hazard.
The blue light from phone screens suppresses melatonin — the hormone that regulates the body’s sleep-wake cycle. Constant notifications, vibrations, or screen light can disturb deep sleep, leading to headaches, ear ringing, and fatigue.
If the phone is charging overnight or placed under a pillow or blanket, heat buildup can’t escape properly, greatly increasing the risk of device damage or fire.
3. Keeping your phone in your bra
Although there’s no conclusive scientific evidence directly linking mobile phones to breast cancer, many experts believe placing an electronic device that emits low-level electromagnetic radiation near the chest for long periods is not advisable.
Additionally, keeping a phone in a bra without a secure pocket increases the risk of it falling out during movement.:quality(75)/2017_7_13_636355330475516192_nhung-tac-hai-khi-de-dien-thoai-o-tui-sau-khien-ban-phai-giat-minh.png)
4. Holding your phone too close to your face while talking
Many people press their phone tightly against their ear and face during calls, but this habit can harm your skin.
Phones carry large amounts of bacteria and germs from your hands, desk, and other surfaces they come into contact with. When pressed against your face, these microorganisms transfer onto your skin, increasing the risk of irritation, clogged pores, and acne breakouts.
In short: Keep your phone at a safe distance, avoid direct contact with your body whenever possible, and practice good hygiene — small changes that can make a big difference to your long-term health.
