7 creatures that can get into your toilet and how to avoid them

Although it is hard to believe, there are undesirable animals that can crawl down the bathroom pipe and cause us a great scare. Moreover, they are so disgusting that necessary measures must be taken to stop them.

We must understand that if there are visits from a pest in the bathroom, it happens because of the humidity they find there. Especially when we talk about the toilet and its seat in particular, if it is not cleaned regularly and well in every corner, it will surely attract these undesirable creatures.

Now we will know specifically what creatures or species we are talking about and that can peek out of the toilet, even more importantly how we can avoid it:

We will really be surprised what kind of visits we can have if we do nothing about it, let’s see below in detail:

1. Snakes

As for snakes, it’s not to be afraid but to be careful. The truth is that they like damp and dark places, so pipes are a favorable place for them.

Generally, their favorite access is the sewer because there are leftovers of food to feed on, but when they finish there they go to look for a way out. The thing is, pipes are the fastest route and can end up in the bathroom.

However, to note about snakes scurrying through pipes, they are usually from warm countries. In addition, they are thinner than poisonous ones and can easily pass through pipes.

2. Rats

As we well know, rats are also in constant search for food and the pipes are easily accessible. In addition, in the bathroom it is located in the toilet and the trash can, so it is very attractive for rats to enter there.

On the other hand, since their anatomy is thin and flexible, they can swim through the pipe. For this reason, food scraps should not be disposed of in a garbage bag, nor should they be flushed down the toilet.

In other words, if we don’t give rats reasons, they won’t get into the sewer. Another timely recommendation, you should always keep the toilet lid closed

3. Spiders

Obviously, in the case of spiders, they cannot swim through the pipes but they can appear in the bathroom through other accesses.

The most fearful thing is that they may settle outside the toilet, only black widows crawl inside and spin their web if we don’t discover them first. Of course, this can only happen in an outdoor bathroom that doesn’t have plumbing.

It all depends on where we live, however a good recommendation for any place where we are is to always check before sitting on the toilet.

Keep in mind that spiders enter the home through any opening or crack, so you have to keep this advice in mind.

4. Lizards

In the case of lizards that enter through pipes they are quite common, the reason is that these creatures love water and look for food. In fact, crickets and other insects can often be found in the pipes of your toilet, if it is not as clean as it should be.

5. Cockroaches

Cockroaches are one of the most common pests in urban and humid areas. Thanks to their flat body and adaptability, they can be easily introduced through pipes and drains. They are attracted to food scraps and moisture, so an unhygienic bathroom can become the perfect place for them. Sealing drains well and cleaning frequently are key measures to prevent their presence.

6. Frogs

Although it may seem surprising, in areas with hot and humid climates, frogs can climb up the pipes looking for water or shelter. Some small species, especially in tropical areas, manage to get in through toilet pipes. To avoid this, it is advisable to install grates or covers with mesh in the drains.

7. Centipede

These elongated, multi-legged insects are adept at sneaking through small cracks. They love dark, damp places with organic debris, such as poorly ventilated bathrooms. They can arrive through pipes connected to outdoor areas or sewers. Keeping the pipes clean and dry is the best way to prevent their entry.

Recommendations:

Keep the toilet very clean: Cleaning the toilet is essential, it must be disinfected and we can use very effective homemade ingredients. We can use white vinegar and baking soda, they are perfect for this cleaning.

Keeping the bathroom dry: Moisture attracts pests, floors should be kept dry, the shower should be dry, there should not be any water loss. Now if we observe any water leak, we must call the service to fix it immediately.

Clean your pipes naturally: In a bowl add equal parts of sugar, water, vinegar and 5 to 10 drops of detergent, mix everything and pour it into the toilet. We can even pour boiling water into the toilet for greater effectiveness.
