Food is considered medicine, medicine will have side effects. Delicious food is often harmful.

35% of cancers are caused by food and drink

Cancer is on the rise worldwide, not just in Vietnam. In 2000, the number of new cancer cases in Vietnam was 69,000. Currently, this number has increased to 126,000, of which there are about 94,000 deaths, 9 times higher than traffic accidents and is expected to increase to 190,000 cases per year by 2020.

The cancer incidence rate in both sexes is 140/100,000 people, ranking 78/172 countries and territories.

Unfortunately, most cancer patients in Vietnam often detect the disease when it is in the late stage (stage 3-4), commonly from 70-90%, especially lung cancer (84.3%), liver cancer (87.8%)... According to many studies, 80% of cancers are caused by environmental factors, including unreasonable diet and food pollution. Food accounts for up to 35%.

According to Bᵴ Wyռռ Huynh Trɑռ, currently working in the US, is the founder of the medical organization VietMD, the reason why eating and drinking increases the risk of cancer is because food is medicine, the main effect is to provide energy for the body but the side effects can increase blood sugar, increase blood fat... if eaten incorrectly.

“Food is medicine, it directly affects daily health, so what you eat today will affect tomorrow. Delicious food is often harmful,” Trang emphasized.

Trang said that cancer only arises from one cell. Normally, cells are born and die every day, but if a malignant cell is born, it will not disappear but multiply uncontrollably, developing into a tumor, which is called cancer.

"Different types of cancer are different, so it is certain that up to now, there is no medicine that can cure all types of cancer. Not to mention that each person's constitution is different, so treating cancer is difficult," Bᵴ Tɑռ shared.

He also emphasized that cancer is not one disease but a combination of many diseases. No one dies from cancer but from many diseases related to cancer.

“The tumor does not kill us, but it causes us pain. The tumor also metastasizes to the liver, causing liver damage, metastasizes to the lungs, metastasizes to the bones… Patients die from cancer metastasis, not from cancer,” explained Bᵴ Tɑռ. Contrary to what many people think, Bᵴ Tɑռ said that cancer develops slowly. Cancer is only detected when malignant cells multiply 1 billion times, equivalent to the size of a pea.

“Because cancer develops slowly, what you eat today can help prevent the disease,” said Bᵴ Tɑռ.

To prevent cancer, Dr. Tran recommends that everyone should apply the following 6 simple eating and drinking principles:

6 eating and drinking principles to prevent cancer, synthesized from many different studies. Doing these 6 things correctly will make half of doctors unemployed.

1. Drink plenty of water

Drink at least 2 liters of water/day, drink many times a day, don't wait until you're thirsty to drink water, drink water with fruits and vegetables. If you don't drink water, it's like we're driving a car without oil.

We can fast for 30 days but if we don't drink water for 2 days, it can be life-threatening, so there is a hunger strike but no one absolutely does not drink water. 2 liters of water only counts filtered water and soup, not sugary or carbonated drinks like Coca-Cola, TabBuck, 7UP, Pepsi, and even tea.

2. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables

Most fresh fruits and vegetables contain anti-cancer substances, so the more vegetables you eat in your meals, the better, such as carrots, oysters, spinach, purple cabbage, etc.

Meals should include a variety of vegetables

Families with money can eat organic fruits and vegetables, those without money can eat Fresh vegetables and fruits are usually available. However, never eat canned foods because vegetables in canned foods contain preservatives.

3. Eat less red meat

Red meat (beef, pork, etc.) contains inflammatory substances, which over time make cells susceptible to malignancy. Processed red meat is even more dangerous.

If red meat is cooked with cooking oil, it creates reactions that produce acrylamide, a chemical that can cause cancer.

4. Eat a varied diet

Eating a lack of variety is a mistake. You should eat a variety of foods to get many different anti-cancer substances, including eating lots of vegetables, fruits, tubers, beans, brown rice, sesame, cereals... and eating foods from many different cultures such as Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Thai, Indian... so that cancer cells are less likely to develop. 5. Reduce frying and sautéing

Foods cooked at high temperatures with oil increase the risk of cancer (research from Japan and Korea on stomach and digestive cancers).

Japan and Korea are two countries with very high rates of stomach cancer due to eating a lot of fried meat
