A large python slithered into a luxury sedan, shocking everyone with its matching license plate numbers between the rescue vehicle, the reporter's car, and the car owner.
People believe it may bring good luck for the New Year. The snake bit the rescue volunteer, but luckily, it was non-venomous.
At 2:29 PM on December 28, 2024, the Udon Thani Rescue Foundation received a call from the 191 Police Radio Center about a large snake slithering into a white Toyota Camry sedan with license plate number KTH 6939, parked in front of "KP Curtain" store on Liang Mueang Road, Udon Thani.
At the scene, Ms. Fai, the 38-year-old shop owner, along with male and female staff, investigated the car's engine compartment. Upon opening the hood, they found a 1.5-meter-long cobra, hissing and raising its head to threaten the rescuers. The snake attempted to escape from the car but was quickly grabbed by the rescue team. In the process, it bit the volunteer on the leg, but fortunately, the snake was non-venomous. It still had sharp fangs, which startled the shop owner and staff, causing them to scream.
The rescue team safely caught the snake and placed it in a sack to release it back into the wild.
Ms. Fai shared that while sitting in the shop, she heard a dog barking and saw it chasing a large snake. She snapped a photo of the snake, which then slithered past two parked pickup trucks before entering her car’s engine compartment. She immediately called for rescue services because both she and her staff are afraid of snakes. If the snake had entered another car in front of her shop, it might have brought luck to the car owner. This car, which has been in use for over 10 years, has often brought good fortune, including the last time it matched the lottery numbers, KTH 6939. Although she didn’t buy a ticket then, this time she plans to try her luck, believing that snakes bring good fortune in one way or another, whether through winning the lottery or prosperous business.
Interestingly, the rescue vehicle and the reporter's car had license plates that closely resembled hers: the rescue vehicle had KKH 9669 and the reporter’s car had KN 5396, both from Udon Thani. This made her even more confident that the number 96 might bring luck in the next lottery draw on January 2, 2024, believing in the tradition that snakes can bring good fortune.
