Boy suffers fever and convulsions; doctors discover something terrifying
The child was admitted in a state of high fever, and doctors discovered numerous needle puncture wounds all over his body. In addition, a broken shoe-sewing needle was found lodged deep in his cervical vertebra.
A 10-month-old baby in Yunnan, China, had to be hospitalized after being stabbed in the neck with a needle. It was later discovered that the child’s mother had stabbed him more than 600 times.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the woman, surnamed Dao, used a shoe-sewing needle to stab the child’s neck, causing the needle to break and become embedded in the cervical spine.
According to Sina Weibo, the boy was taken to hospital with symptoms of fever and convulsions, after which he underwent surgery and anti-infection treatment.
It is reported that the boy has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering well.
In a video posted online on January 14, spine surgeon Sui Wenyuan, who treated the child, said that whenever the baby caught a cold or had a fever, Dao would stab him with needles to draw blood, as a form of punishment or as a folk remedy.
According to SCMP, Dr. Sui estimated that the child had been stabbed around 600 times. Recorded images showed numerous puncture wounds and dark scabs appearing across the baby boy’s feet, head, and torso.
Dr. Sui said the surgery was particularly difficult because the parents could not identify the exact shape of the needle or whether it had barbs. Pulling the needle out in the wrong direction could have caused the tip to hook onto other tissues and result in serious injury.
On January 21, an interdepartmental investigation team—including the police, health commission, civil affairs department, and women’s federation—issued an official statement.
The conclusion confirmed that the needle wounds on the boy’s body were inflicted by his mother. Authorities stated that Dao had little education, lacked scientific knowledge, and showed signs of emotional instability.
According to sources, a report has been filed with the police, and authorities are currently investigating the case.
