The truth is:  Amazon river

For decades, the Nile River has been regarded as the longest river in the world, a common misconception held by many. With an estimated length of about 6,650 kilometers, the Nile flows through 11 countries and plays a crucial role in the history of ancient Egyptian civilization. However, this belief has been challenged by modern research, which reveals that the Amazon River, with an estimated length of approximately 7,000 kilometers, is actually the longest river in the world.

This misunderstanding largely stems from differences in measurement methods and the definition of a river’s source. Previously, the Nile’s length was calculated starting from Lake Victoria, one of its significant tributaries, while the Amazon was not fully measured from its farthest tributaries in the Andes. Recent studies using advanced technology have determined the Amazon’s length to surpass that of the Nile. In addition to its length, the Amazon is also the world’s largest river by water volume, highlighting its significant ecological importance. This discovery emphasizes that our understanding of nature is constantly evolving, challenging what we once considered to be absolute truths.
