If pork has been stored in the refrigerator beyond this time, it’s best to remind your family and discard it as soon as possible!

When buying pork, many people tend to purchase a large amount at once and store it in the refrigerator for convenience. However, do you know that while refrigeration can extend the shelf life of pork, it also has its limitations? Storing pork in the fridge for too long can lead to nutrient loss, and if kept for an extended period, it may spoil. Even if you buy a lot or don't consume it all at once, refrigeration alone won't completely prevent spoilage. For the health of your family, be mindful of the storage time. If pork exceeds the recommended period in the fridge, don’t hesitate to discard it to avoid waste later!

Refrigerated pork should not exceed this time limit.

Some people place freshly purchased pork directly into the refrigerator. At a temperature of 0–5°C (32–41°F), pork can stay fresh for up to 3 days without issues. However, after 3 days, spoilage begins. Certain pathogens on the pork’s surface will start multiplying rapidly, breaking down the protein and fat, causing an unpleasant odor, and rendering the pork inedible. Therefore, if you cannot consume the pork within 3 days, you should store it in the freezer.

Generally, fresh pork can be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months. It is not advisable to eat pork kept beyond this period. Prolonged freezing allows odors from the freezer to penetrate the meat, altering its flavor. Additionally, the protein and fat in the meat can degrade, reducing its nutritional value. Every time you store pork, it’s important to note the expiration date.

There are also tips for properly storing pork in the freezer. Do not simply place the pork directly in the freezer; knowing the correct storage method will ensure the meat retains its flavor and quality, even after 6 months.
