Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of former President Trump, shared a humorous "resignation letter" from his father addressed to the fast-food chain McDonald’s, where the newly elected U.S. President once supposedly fried fries.
"Please accept this letter as my official notice of resignation from my position at McDonald's, effective January 20, 2025," Donald Trump Jr. posted today on social media, sharing an image of the letter featuring his father’s name and signature, addressed to McDonald's HR department.
The "resignation date" in the letter coincides with Trump’s upcoming inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. After securing the presidency with a series of battleground state victories on Election Day, November 5, Trump becomes the first president in this century to serve two non-consecutive terms.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our customers, flip burgers, and fry fries. I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition of staff during my remaining time," the letter continues, before concluding with: "I leave with fond memories and look forward to my next adventure."
McDonald’s has not commented on the playful letter shared by the President-elect’s eldest son.
During the campaign, Trump and his allies criticized opponent Kamala Harris, accusing the Democratic candidate of falsely claiming she had worked at McDonald's during college to appeal to working-class voters.
Back in October, Trump caused a stir when he visited a McDonald’s in Feasterville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. He removed his suit jacket, donned an apron, fried some fries, and served food to customers.
McDonald's later stated that they had not invited Trump and expressed no support for any candidate in the election. "McDonald’s is neither blue nor red. We’re yellow," read a statement from the company’s leadership.
