Eating Eggs Can Be Harmful for These 5 Groups of People: Better Stay Away!

Eggs are a nutrient-rich food and generally good for health, but not everyone should eat them.

1. People Allergic to Protein

Eggs contain various proteins that can trigger allergic reactions, especially in the egg white. For those with allergies, eating eggs may cause hives, itching, breathing difficulties, or even dangerous anaphylaxis. Children are the most susceptible since their immune systems are not fully developed. Infants under 1 year old should never be given egg whites. Anyone with a history of allergies should be cautious.

2. People with Dyslipidemia (Abnormal Blood Lipids)

While eggs are nutritious, the yolk contains a high amount of cholesterol. For individuals with lipid disorders—particularly elevated “bad” cholesterol (LDL)—eating too many eggs, especially yolks, can worsen the condition and increase the risk of coronary artery disease and heart problems. If you have this issue, limit egg consumption, prioritize egg whites, and consult your doctor before making eggs a regular part of your diet.

3. People with Liver Disease

The liver plays a vital role in metabolizing fats, proteins, and detoxifying the body. When the liver is damaged (hepatitis, fatty liver, cirrhosis, etc.), its ability to process nutrients decreases. Consuming too many eggs, especially fried ones, can overload the liver. Therefore, people with liver disease should limit egg intake, particularly during treatment or recovery.

4. People with Gallstones

Egg yolks are rich in cholesterol. Eating them in excess may contribute to gallstone formation. For those who already have gallstones or are at high risk, eggs—especially frequent consumption—can trigger biliary colic, bloating, indigestion, or even bile duct obstruction if stones move. If you have a history of gallstones, you should avoid cholesterol-rich foods such as eggs, animal fat, and organ meats, and instead follow a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

5. People with Diarrhea or Digestive Disorders

Eggs—particularly soft-boiled or raw eggs—can harbor Salmonella bacteria, which may cause food poisoning if not fully cooked. For anyone with digestive issues like diarrhea, eating eggs can worsen symptoms. Eggs may also be difficult to digest for some, leading to bloating or discomfort when the body is weak. If you are experiencing digestive problems, it’s best to avoid eggs until you recover.
