Putting rice in a thermos will help you solve a very important problem. Let's find out.
Thermos is a very popular item in life. It has the effect of keeping hot or cold, maintaining the temperature for a certain period of time. Thanks to that, you can carry it from home to class, to work or on a picnic... conveniently.
Using a thermos is simple, but cleaning it is not easy. The main reason is that thermos bottles often have a small opening, and it is difficult to see inside, so you will not be able to clean all the dirt inside. Washing the bottle thoroughly will cause the bottle to have an unpleasant smell and also affect the user's health.
To clean the thermos bottle more effectively, you can try the method below.
Clean the thermos bottle with rice
First, pour a little warm water into the bottle (the amount of water should be about 1/2 of the bottle's capacity). Then, put a handful of rice and a pinch of salt into the bottle. Cover the bottle and shake the bottle for about 2 minutes.
The rice and salt will create friction in the bottle, helping to clean the dirt inside. Warm water also helps to clean the dirt more effectively.
Next, you should pour out all the water and rice in the bottle. Take a little toothpaste on the mouth of the bottle and use a toothbrush to clean the mouth and lid of the bottle. This is the part with spiral grooves, which is very easy to get dirty.
To be more careful, you can scrub the inside of the thermos again to completely remove dirt and odors from the thermos.
Finally, rinse the thermos with clean water. When the thermos is clean, place the thermos in a ventilated place, do not cover the lid but leave the two parts separate to dry completely. When the thermos is new, screw the lid back on to store it, this will prevent mold and odors from appearing.
Clean the thermos with vinegar and lemon
You can add 2 tablespoons of vinegar or squeeze the juice of a lemon into the thermos. Shake the bottle so that the vinegar/lemon covers the entire inside of the bottle. Let it sit for a few minutes so that the acid in the lemon/vinegar dissolves the dirt. Then, rinse the bottle with clean water and let it dry.
Clean the thermos with baking soda
Pour hot water into the bottle and rinse it to remove some of the impurities inside the bottle. Put 2 tablespoons of baking soda and a little warm water in the bottle. Screw the lid on and shake the bottle so that the baking soda covers the inside of the bottle. Soak baking soda in the thermos for about 1 hour and then rinse the thermos with clean water.
Clean the thermos with eggshells
When cooking, wash the eggshells and dry them and then crush them. Put the eggshells in the thermos, add warm water and screw the lid on. Shake the thermos vigorously for a few minutes. The eggshells will create friction to help remove dirt in the thermos.
Clean the thermos with orange peels
Take some orange peels, wash them and chop them. Put the orange peels in the thermos and then pour boiling water into the thermos. Cover the jar and leave it for about 2-3 hours.
Pour out the water and orange peel. The smell in the jar will disappear. You just need to rinse the jar with clean water a few times.
When applying all the above methods, don't forget to clean the mouth of the jar and the lid.
