Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the Ribs

  • 1.2–1.5 kg pork ribs (baby back or spare ribs)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

For the Hawaiian Glaze

  • 1 cup pineapple juice

  • ½ cup barbecue sauce

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar or honey

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ tsp ginger powder (optional)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water (optional thickener)

Toppings

  • Pineapple rings

  • Maraschino cherries

  • Toothpicks for decoration


Instructions

1. Prepare the Ribs

  1. Pat ribs dry with paper towels.

  2. Remove the membrane from the back (optional but makes ribs tender).

  3. Season ribs generously with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  4. Let rest 15 minutes while preparing the glaze.


2. Make the Hawaiian Glaze

  1. In a saucepan, combine:

    • pineapple juice

    • BBQ sauce

    • soy sauce

    • brown sugar

    • apple cider vinegar

    • garlic

    • ginger powder

  2. Simmer over medium heat for 10–12 minutes until slightly thickened.

  3. If you want a thicker glaze:

    • Mix cornstarch + water

    • Add to sauce

    • Simmer 2 more minutes until glossy.


3. Cook the Ribs (Choose One Method)

Oven Method (Most Reliable)

  1. Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F).

  2. Wrap ribs tightly in foil.

  3. Bake for 2.5–3 hours until tender.

Grill Method (Smoky Flavor)

  1. Grill ribs over indirect heat for 2–2.5 hours at medium-low temperature.

Air Fryer Method (Fastest)

  1. Air fry at 170°C for 55–65 minutes, flipping halfway.


4. Glaze and Broil/Grill

  1. Unwrap ribs and brush generously with Hawaiian pineapple glaze.

  2. Broil in oven or grill over high heat for 3–5 minutes until caramelized.

  3. Repeat glazing for a deeper color and stickier ribs.


5. Decorate and Serve

  1. Place grilled pineapple rings on top of each rib section.

  2. Add a maraschino cherry in the center (secure with toothpick).

  3. Brush with a little extra glaze for shine.

  4. Serve warm.
