He Asked for a Divorce Again and Again for Months — But When I Finally Signed, He Tore the Papers Apart
The reason he came back made me furious — and I could never forgive him.

My husband, Daniel, and I have been married for twelve years. Our life wasn’t luxurious, but it was stable, comfortable enough. I always thought we were just an ordinary family — until he began to change.

He started coming home late, smiling at his phone for no reason, and sometimes claimed to be on “business trips” that lasted a week with no clear explanation. I sensed something was wrong, but I tried to convince myself to trust him.

Then one evening, he said it straight out: “I want a divorce.”

I froze. When I asked why, he simply said, “We’re not compatible anymore.” His answer was so shallow, it made our twelve years together sound like a short trial run. I cried, begged him to think of our child, to reconsider. But he was cold: “Don’t hold me back. I’m tired of this.”

The days after that felt like walking through fog. I still woke up early to make breakfast, still went to work, but inside, everything had collapsed. Sometimes I caught him whispering on the phone, eyes gleaming with a look I no longer recognized.

Eventually, I found out the truth. There was another woman — a younger colleague from his office. I was too drained to be angry or jealous; I just felt empty. After several arguments, I finally signed the divorce papers and placed them on the table. I thought, If he wants to leave, I won’t stop him anymore.

But the next day, he came to me, holding the papers — and tore them to shreds.
“I’ve changed my mind,” he said. “I don’t want a divorce anymore.”

I stared at him, confused. The same man who had been pushing me away for months suddenly wanted to stay?

A few days later, I heard that the young woman had broken up with him — even quit her job and moved to another company. And that’s when it all made sense. He didn’t come back because he missed his wife or his child — he came back because she left him.

He started acting caring again, bringing food for our child, asking if I was tired after work. But his eyes told a different story — no love, just guilt and discomfort. I looked at him and felt both pity and disappointment.

He was a man who thought he could walk out and find happiness elsewhere, only to crawl back after being shut out of that dream.

I still live with him, for the sake of our child, but my heart has stopped hoping. I know this marriage cracked long ago. No matter how many divorce papers he tears up, the fractures inside me can never be mended.
