The wedding of Grace Carter and Ryan Miller looked like a dream.

The ceremony was held at a luxurious seaside mansion, surrounded by white roses, candlelight, and the sound of waves crashing against the shore. Guests laughed, champagne flowed, and fireworks painted the night sky in gold and silver.

Grace stood beside Ryan in her elegant white gown, her eyes shining with happiness.

“I still can’t believe we’re finally married,” she whispered.

Ryan smiled and kissed her forehead.

“I’ll take care of you forever.”

Everyone applauded.

No one knew that only thirty minutes earlier, Ryan had signed a secret agreement that would change everything.

Ryan was drowning in debt.

“And Ryan?” another man asked.

She backed away slowly, covering her mouth to keep from crying out.

The man she had just married had sold her for money.

Grace returned to the ballroom, forcing herself to smile.

Ryan immediately noticed her pale face.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“I’m just tired.”

He took her hand a little too tightly.

“Don’t leave my side tonight.”

For the first time, Grace felt afraid of him.

Among the guests was Daniel Hayes, a former investigator and an old friend of Grace’s late father.

He had known Grace since she was a child, and he instantly recognized the panic in her eyes.

As she passed him, she whispered,

“What happened?”

“We need to get you out of here right now.”

They slipped through a service corridor and headed toward the back of the mansion.

But Ryan discovered Grace was gone.

“Grace!”

His voice echoed through the ballroom.

Guests turned in confusion as he pushed through the crowd.

Daniel and Grace ran across the dark beach behind the mansion, her wedding dress dragging through the sand.

The cold wind whipped around them.

Ahead, the marina lights flickered over the water.

Behind them, footsteps were getting closer.

Ryan caught up to them at the end of the pier.

“Grace, stop!”

She turned, tears streaming down her face.

“How could you do this to me?”

Ryan breathed heavily.

“You don’t understand.”

“I heard everything.”

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then his voice became cold.

“I had no choice.”

Grace stared at him in horror.

“You sold your own wife.”

Ryan looked away.

“It was supposed to be quick. You were never meant to suffer.”

Grace felt as if the world had collapsed beneath her.

Daniel stepped in front of her.

He turned and ran down the pier, but flashing blue lights appeared at the entrance to the marina.

Within seconds, officers surrounded him.

The men waiting by the boats tried to escape, but they were arrested as well.

Grace sat alone on the wooden steps overlooking the sea. Her dress was stained with sand and salt water, and her hands still trembled.

Daniel handed her a cup of hot coffee.

“You’re safe now.”

Grace looked at the wedding ring on her finger.
