Crews worked to fix the gas leak over the next three days, and said that even a lightswitch could’ve ignited a catastrophic explosion. By detecting the gas in time, Kobe had saved everyone on the block.

“It’s really, really mind blowing,” Chanell says in the video. “I’m so thankful for God, so thankful for my baby boy,” she added, referring to Kobe.

The remarkable story went viral, and many praised Kobe as a hero. Many suggested that the story was worthy of a children’s book, so Chanell wrote and published a book titled The Dog That Saved The Block Before Christmas.
