If You Notice These 3 Signs at Night, Your Kidneys May Be Very Healthy

A full night’s sleep, no nighttime urination, no swelling, and waking up feeling energetic in the morning are signs that your kidneys are healthy.

3 nighttime signs that indicate healthy kidneys

Not waking up at night

Except for cases where too much water is consumed before bedtime, people normally rarely wake up during the night. This is also one indication that the kidneys are in a healthy state.

When kidney function gradually declines, the amount of fluid filtered through the glomeruli cannot be fully reabsorbed back into the body. This leads to increased urine production and frequent waking during the night.

No swelling

When you consume too much salt and water, or when there are problems with kidney health, excessive fluid can accumulate in body tissues—a condition known as edema—which may occur at night.

The kidneys are one of the body’s vital organs, responsible for maintaining fluid balance. When the kidneys have health issues or their function declines, fluid may not be excreted in time and can build up in the body, leading to generalized swelling.

Sleeping well

When kidney function declines, people not only experience more frequent nighttime urination but may also suffer from night sweats.

Kidney failure often manifests as frequent dreaming at night, and these issues can negatively affect sleep quality.

If you get enough sleep each night, enjoy good sleep quality, and wake up feeling full of energy in the morning, this is also a sign of healthy kidneys.
