Knife can be as sharp as new
Faced with this situation, many people often choose to spend money to sharpen knives or buy new knives. However, this method is not only expensive but also a waste of resources.
Today, I want to share with you a simple and effective tip to keep kitchen knives sharp without using a whetstone.
First of all, you need to prepare a ceramic bowl or plate, turn it upside down and you will see a rough round surface in the middle.
Then, you put a little salt, a sufficient amount of toothpaste and a little white vinegar in the middle of the bowl, then mix the ingredients well. Salt will stimulate the steel, toothpaste contains abrasives that increase friction, and white vinegar with acetic acid will help remove rust on the knife effectively. Finally, you just need to dip a scrubbing pad into this solution and gently rub it on the blade of your kitchen knife.
Next, you take a kitchen knife and sharpen it on the round surface of the porcelain bowl in a single direction. Note that you should only sharpen in one direction without sharpening back and forth, as this will damage the blade due to the difference in durability. After about three minutes of sharpening each side, you will notice that the kitchen knife becomes noticeably sharper.
An important point to remember when sharpening a knife is the angle of the blade, which should be kept at about 10 degrees. If you sharpen the knife at too flat or too small an angle, the blade will be thinner, sharper but more fragile, and may even crack when cutting hard foods. On the contrary, if the angle is too large, the blade will be thick, leading to the knife becoming dull quickly. This angle will help sharpen the knife and protect the blade from damage.
No matter how dull your kitchen knife is, with just one simple step, you can help it become as sharp as new without using a whetstone or any complicated tools.
