How to Grow Bean Sprouts Using a Plastic Basket
Ingredients:
200g mung beans (only select dry, undamaged beans)
A large cotton towel or an old unused shirt
A plastic basket
A ceramic plate
A plastic container (about the same size as the basket)
Instructions:

Step 1: Soak the mung beans in warm water (50°C) for about 8 hours until the shells start to crack.

Step 2: Place the plastic basket on top of the container, ensuring that the bottom of the basket is about 1 cm above the container's base to prevent waterlogging.

Step 3: Line a portion of the cotton towel around the inside of the plastic basket.

Step 4: Evenly spread the soaked mung beans over the bottom of the basket, then cover them completely with the remaining towel.

Step 5: Pour about 2/3 of a bowl of water over the towel to maintain moisture.

Step 6: Place a ceramic plate on top of the towel, then store the setup in a cool, dark place away from sunlight.

Alternative Methods for Growing Bean Sprouts
1. Growing Bean Sprouts Using a Towel
Ingredients:
100g mung beans
A cotton or muslin towel
A plastic basket or tray
Instructions:

Step 1: Soak the mung beans in warm water (3 parts boiling water, 2 parts cold water). Change the water every 6 hours and soak for 12 hours until the beans begin to sprout.

Step 2: Drain the beans and rinse them gently under running water to avoid breaking the sprouts.

Step 3: Use a plastic basket or tray with drainage holes. Line the bottom with a damp towel, then spread the soaked beans evenly over it. Cover the beans with another damp towel and place them in a cool, dark place. Keep the towel moist by sprinkling cold water on it every 4 hours.

Step 4: Harvest the sprouts after 3 days. The bean sprouts should be thick, evenly grown, with minimal roots, making them easy to remove and clean for the next batch.

2. Growing Bean Sprouts Using a Milk Carton
Ingredients:
70g mung beans
A 1L milk carton
Instructions:
Soak the mung beans in warm water for 3-4 hours until the shells crack.
Clean the milk carton thoroughly and cut open both ends to allow water drainage.
Place the soaked beans inside the milk carton, close the lid, and store it in a cool, dark place.
Twice a day, submerge the milk carton in water for about 5 minutes, then drain it completely and put it back in the dark.
After 4 days, the carton should feel tight and swollen, indicating that the sprouts are ready. Cut open the carton to harvest the bean sprouts.
