10 Early Clues Your Body May Give Before a Blood Cancer Diagnosis
Could These Be Early Signs of Blood Cancer? 10 Symptoms to Know
In traditional beliefs, moles on the soles of the feet are considered signs of good fortune and prosperity. However, medical experts offer a different perspective on moles and their implications for health.

According to folklore, individuals with moles on the soles of their feet are often thought to have a favorable destiny. Such moles are believed to indicate talent, good fortune, and a life of abundance and contentment, free from worries.
From a medical standpoint, moles may not always be harbingers of luck; they can sometimes serve as warning signs for serious health conditions, including cancer.
Professor and Doctor Quách Quân, head of the Department of Skin Cancer Medicine at the Cancer Hospital affiliated with Peking University, explained that moles could indicate skin cancer.
According to Professor Quách, skin cancer is a malignant disease that originates from the skin's outermost layers, including keratinocytes, basal cells, and melanocytes. It occurs due to abnormal skin cell growth, often triggered by ultraviolet (UV) radiation damage.
The three main types of skin cancer are:
Although skin cancer typically does not pose an immediate threat to life, it can become severe if left untreated. Untreated skin cancer may result in tumor growth and spread to other parts of the body, leading to serious complications. Therefore, early recognition of warning signs is crucial.
Professor Quách highlighted that skin cancer can manifest as:
He emphasized the importance of monitoring moles on the palms, soles, fingers, toes, and nails and seeking medical attention if abnormalities are observed.
Professor Quách advised paying attention to the following signs of potential skin cancer and consulting a doctor promptly if these features are detected:
Asymmetry
Moles that are not symmetrical (with uneven halves) may be indicative of malignant tumors.
Irregular Borders
Normal moles typically have smooth, even edges. If the mole has jagged, blurred, or irregular edges, it could be a warning sign.
Color Variations
Healthy moles usually have a uniform color, such as pink, red, brown, or black. Moles with mixed or changing colors may signal skin cancer.
Size
Moles with a diameter larger than 5mm or those that grow rapidly could indicate skin cancer.
Other Symptoms
Moles that itch, hurt, ooze, become crusty, or develop scales are also potential signs of skin cancer.
Professor Quách stressed that regular monitoring of moles, especially those in unusual locations like the soles of the feet, is essential. If any of the warning signs are observed, timely medical consultation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment.
