Daniel accepted it.

Charles watched nervously.

Daniel slowly opened the folder.

Inside was a document.

At the top was the name of the restaurant.

Below it were dozens of financial figures.

Outstanding debts.

Missed payments.

Declining revenue.

And finally—

A proposal for a complete acquisition.

Daniel's expression changed.

The warmth disappeared from his eyes.

Charles swallowed.

CHARLES:
"What is that?"

Edward looked at him.

Then quietly answered.

EDWARD:
"The future of this restaurant."

Daniel closed the folder.

Charles stared at him.

CHARLES:
"Who are you?"

Daniel looked around the room.

At the chandeliers.

The expensive furniture.

The empty tables.

Then he looked directly at Charles.

DANIEL:
"The man who decides whether this place still exists next month."

Charles's face went pale.

The nearby couple stopped eating.

Edward stepped forward.

EDWARD:
"Mr. Williams's company has been negotiating to acquire the restaurant group."

Charles slowly turned back toward Daniel.

Everything suddenly made sense.

The simple clothes.

The calmness.

The phone call.

The folder.

Daniel hadn't walked into the restaurant hoping for a table.

He had walked in to make a decision.

Charles lowered his voice.

CHARLES:
"Mr. Williams... I didn't know."

Daniel stared at him for several seconds.

Then he asked quietly:

DANIEL:
"Would you have treated me differently if you did?"

Charles couldn't answer.

Daniel glanced toward one of the empty tables.

DANIEL:
"That's the question that matters."

Edward looked at Daniel.

EDWARD:
"So... what do you want to do?"

Everyone waited.

Charles looked terrified.

Daniel slowly picked up the acquisition folder.

Then, unexpectedly, he placed it back in Edward's hands.

DANIEL:
"I'm not signing tonight."

Charles looked up.

Edward frowned.

EDWARD:
"You're walking away?"

Daniel shook his head.

He looked toward the restaurant entrance.

Then back at Charles.

DANIEL:
"Tomorrow, I want to come back."

A pause.

DANIEL:
"Same clothes. Same entrance."

Charles stared at him.

Daniel's expression remained calm.

DANIEL:
"And this time, I want to see how your staff treats me when none of you know who I am."

Edward slowly understood.

Daniel turned toward the door.

But before leaving, he stopped beside Charles.

DANIEL:
"Tonight, I came without a reservation."

Charles looked at him nervously.

Daniel gave one final glance toward the empty dining room.

DANIEL:
"Tomorrow, we'll find out whether this restaurant deserves a future."

Daniel walked out.

The door slowly closed behind him.

Charles remained standing in the center of the luxurious restaurant.

Surrounded by empty tables.

And for the first time, he understood something terrifying.

The most important guest of the night had already come.

And he had been turned away.

“Respect shouldn't depend on a reservation.”

“Because you never know who is standing on the other side of the door.”
