Jaundice May Be an Early Clue
A tumor located near the bile duct can block the normal flow of bile. This may cause jaundice, a condition characterized by:
- Yellowing of the skin
- Yellowing of the eyes
- Dark-colored urine
- Pale stools
- Itchy skin
For some patients, jaundice is one of the first noticeable signs that prompts medical evaluation.
Changes in Blood Sugar Levels
Researchers have observed a connection between pancreatic disease and changes in blood sugar regulation. In some cases, people suddenly develop diabetes without a clear explanation. Others may find that existing diabetes becomes more difficult to control.
Although diabetes is common and usually unrelated to can.cer, sudden changes should be discussed with a physician, especially when accompanied by other symptoms.
