The special part behind the refrigerator needs to be cleaned regularly
The refrigerator is an electrical device that operates 24/7 and consumes a lot of electricity. Therefore, using the device effectively and saving electricity is something that many families care about. In addition to preserving a sufficient amount of food and adjusting the appropriate temperature, you need to pay attention to cleaning the refrigerator.
Usually, when it comes to cleaning the refrigerator, people will only remember cleaning the compartments or cleaning the gasket on the refrigerator door. However, there is an important part behind the refrigerator that also needs to be cleaned.
That part is the refrigerator's condenser coil. This is where part of the heat will be released into the surrounding air. This part contains liquid refrigerant, which plays a role in reducing the temperature inside the refrigerator.
The condenser coil located behind the refrigerator also needs to be cleaned regularly.
The condenser coil located behind the refrigerator also needs to be cleaned regularly. Because it is located outside the refrigerator, this part is very susceptible to dirt. A thick layer of dirt will prevent heat from being released to the outside, making the refrigerator hotter and having to work harder to cool. This is the reason why the electricity bill increases significantly and reduces the life of the device.
In addition, when the condenser coils accumulate a lot of dirt and are not cleaned, the refrigerator can also make more noise during operation.
You do not need to clean the condenser coil too often. Just doing this about once every 6 months is enough. If you have pets such as dogs and cats, you should clean them more often because their hair can also stick to the condenser coils.
How to clean the condenser coil
Before cleaning the refrigerator, you should clean all the food inside and turn off the power to ensure safety during the process. Push the refrigerator out of its fixed position to make cleaning easier.
The condenser coil is usually located below, behind the refrigerator. Most condenser coils are exposed. However, some refrigerators have a panel or mesh cover in the front.
You can use a vacuum cleaner to remove all the dirt on the condenser coil. If you do not have a vacuum cleaner, you can also use a soft cloth or soft brush to clean it. Note that the condenser coil is easily damaged if too much force is used. Therefore, you should perform the operation gently to avoid damaging this part.
In addition, there is another part behind the refrigerator, the water tray. This tray is used to collect the condensed steam in the evaporator so that the water does not flow out and damage the refrigerator. The water tray is located right below the condenser. Basically, you do not need to clean this water tray. However, the water tray can also accumulate a lot of dirt, and insects may fall inside. Therefore, you can clean the water tray to avoid unpleasant odors.
