Simple Ways to Fix Dents on Your Car

Simple Ways to Fix Dents on Your Car

Instead of taking the car to repair centers right away, car owners can fix dents at home using some simple methods.

During use, cars are bound to get scratches and dents. For small, shallow dents that are only 1-3 cm deep and not too wide, car owners can fix them at home using simple methods.

Using a Hair Dryer
This may sound unusual, but many car owners have successfully used a hair dryer to fix dents on their cars. In addition to the hair dryer, car owners will need aluminum foil, dry ice, and a can of compressed air.
First, heat the dent with the hair dryer. Be sure to keep the hair dryer at least 15 cm away from the car surface. Then, cover the dent with aluminum foil and rub dry ice on the foil to cool down the area. The quick temperature change on the car's surface helps the dent return to its original shape.

Using Boiling Water
Boiling water can also be used to fix dents on plastic parts like the front bumper, rear bumper, or car underbody. The process is quite simple: pour boiling water over the dent to heat it and make the plastic expand. After that, press from behind to reshape the plastic back to its original form.

Using a Piston
Dents on the car can also be fixed with a piston, but this method is only suitable for very small dents.
To use this method, you can fix small dents on the car with a piston. Wet both the dent and the piston, then push and pull until the dent returns to its original shape.

Using Hot Glue, Wood, and Screws
Prepare a few wooden blocks (either cylindrical or square), a hot glue gun, and screws with pointed, grooved heads. Then, screw the nails through the wood as a support for your fingers. Apply hot glue on the wooden blocks and stick them onto the dent. Wait for the glue to dry, then pull it out.

Using a Vacuum Cleaner and a Funnel
Use tape to seal both ends of the vacuum cleaner and the funnel. Then, attach the mouth of the funnel over the dent, ensuring it is tightly sealed with no gaps.
Next, turn the vacuum cleaner on to its highest suction setting to create a pulling force on the dented surface.
