Stir-Fried Broccoli with Mushrooms 

Ingredients

  • 250 g broccoli florets

  • 200 g mushrooms (shiitake or king oyster), sliced

  • 3–4 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp cooking oil

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • ½ tsp sesame oil

  • ¼ cup water or vegetable broth

  • Salt & pepper, to taste


Instructions

1. Prep the vegetables

  • Wash and cut broccoli into bite-size florets.

  • Slice mushrooms evenly.

2. Blanch the broccoli

  • Bring a small pot of water to a boil.

  • Add broccoli and blanch for 1 minute.

  • Drain and set aside.
    This keeps the broccoli green and crunchy.

3. Stir-fry the aromatics

  • Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.

  • Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 20–30 seconds).

4. Cook the mushrooms

  • Add sliced mushrooms into the pan.

  • Stir-fry until they soften and release moisture (2–3 minutes).

5. Add the broccoli + seasoning

  • Add the blanched broccoli.

  • Pour in oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, and water/broth.

  • Mix well so the sauce coats all the vegetables.

6. Simmer briefly

  • Let it cook for another 1–2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

7. Serve

  • Transfer to a plate and enjoy while warm.

  • Great as a side dish or combined with rice/noodles.
