Former T-ara member Jiyeon (ν°μλΌ μ§μ°) and professional baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun (ν©μ¬κ· ) from kt wiz have been caught up in divorce rumors after two years of marriage, which Jiyeon's side has denied.
The divorce speculation originated from a broadcast by KNN Radio in the Busan and Gyeongnam region during a baseball game commentary.
During the broadcast, one commentator remarked, "Did you know Hwang Jae-gyun got divorced?" Surprised, another commentator responded, "What? Hwang Jae-gyun?" The first commentator continued, "I heard from the director. There's a reason he was underperforming during the game. His home life is turbulent; how can he focus?"
This conversation occurred during a commercial break, so it was not aired on the radio but was visible on a YouTube channel broadcast. As it spread across online communities, netizens pointed out that Jiyeon had recently suspended uploads on her YouTube channel.
On June 20, Jiyeon had posted on her YouTube community, "Due to personal reasons, I will be unable to upload videos for the time being. I ask for your understanding, and I will return with a bright smile."
These circumstances fueled the rapid spread of the divorce rumors. Jiyeon and Hwang Jae-gyun, who married in December 2022, had shared their newlywed life on Jiyeon's YouTube channel.
