The Flight Between Two Countries

“A famous actor flew 11 hours just to have coffee with a woman he had met only once.”

How to Save Money on Flights With Two Overlapping Roundtrips - Business Insider
When Adrian Cole landed in Prague for the filming of a historical movie, the airport was filled with reporters, cameras, and security guards.

At thirty-two, he was one of the most famous actors in Britain.

People knew his face everywhere.

But that evening, the person who caught his attention was not a celebrity.

It was the production assistant standing quietly near the equipment truck.

Her name was Elena Novak.

Twenty-four years old.

Simple white shirt, messy ponytail, and a clipboard held tightly in her hands.

She did not ask for a photo.

She did not look nervous.

She simply said,

Elena: “Mr. Cole, your call time tomorrow is 5:30 a.m. Don’t be late.”

Adrian laughed for the first time that day.

Royally Screwed streaming: where to watch online?

Over the next few weeks, he began noticing her everywhere.

She carried coffee for the crew, stayed after midnight to organize schedules, and quietly covered for others when mistakes happened.

One night, filming was delayed by a storm.

The entire set complained.

Elena sat on a wooden box eating a sandwich in silence.

Adrian walked over.

Adrian: “You don’t seem angry.”

She smiled faintly.

Elena: “If the rain can’t be stopped, I’d rather eat before the sandwich gets cold.”

That simple answer stayed with him longer than any compliment he had ever received.

When filming ended, Adrian returned to London.

He told himself it was just a passing feeling.

Three days later, he booked a flight back to Prague.

Eleven hours of travel.

For one coffee.

Elena stared at him in disbelief when he appeared outside the studio.

Elena: “You flew all the way here for this?”

Adrian: “I tried forgetting you. The ticket was easier.”

She laughed.

And that laugh became the beginning of everything.

From then on, his life turned into a map of airports.

London.

Prague.

London.

Prague.

He would finish a scene, rush to the airport, sleep on the plane, spend one evening with her, then fly back before sunrise.

Sometimes they had only two hours together.

Sometimes just dinner and a walk across Charles Bridge.

The tabloids called him crazy.

His manager called it reckless.

His parents called it impossible.

The real conflict began when Adrian brought Elena to London.

At dinner, his father put down his fork and said,

Father: “You live in different countries. She’s eight years younger than you. This won’t last.”

His mother added gently,

Mother: “Love is not enough for a marriage.”

Elena heard every word.

That night, she told Adrian,

Elena: “Maybe they’re right.”

For the first time, fear appeared in his eyes.

Adrian: “Do you want me to stop coming?”

She looked away.

Elena: “I want you to stop losing yourself for me.”

The next month, Adrian did not fly to Prague.

Elena waited.

One week.

Two weeks.

Three weeks.

Then a package arrived.

Inside was a notebook.

Every page contained a boarding pass.

Thirty-seven flights.

Thirty-seven trips between London and Prague.

On the last page he had written:

“I never lost myself. I was finding the place where my heart wanted to stay.”

Elena cried for a long time.

Then she bought a ticket to London.

When Adrian opened his apartment door and saw her standing there with a suitcase, he could not speak.

Elena held up the notebook.

Elena: “You flew thirty-seven times.”

She smiled through tears.

Elena: “It’s my turn now.”

They married a year later in a small ceremony overlooking the river.

No reporters.

No red carpet.

Just family, close friends, and the woman who had once reminded him not to be late for work.

Adrian gradually reduced his filming schedule.

Elena moved to London but kept her own career.

They argued about ordinary things: groceries, laundry, and who forgot to water the plants.

And somehow, those ordinary moments became the happiness they had fought so hard to protect.

Five years later, a journalist asked Adrian during an interview:

Journalist: “What was the craziest thing you’ve ever done for love?”

He looked toward Elena, who was waiting off camera with their little daughter in her arms.

Then he smiled.

Adrian: “People think it was flying between two countries.”

He shook his head softly.

Adrian: “The craziest thing was realizing I would have kept flying forever if it meant seeing her smile one more time.”
