Certain dietary patterns have been associated with higher colorectal cancer risk, particularly diets that contain large amounts of processed meat, high consumption of red meat, excessive alcohol, and relatively little dietary fiber.
That does not mean eating a hamburger or a sausage occasionally will cause cancer. Cancer development is a complex process that generally occurs over many years.
The more useful question is what someone eats regularly.
