The truth behind the man with 39 wives, 94 children, 33 grandchildren living together
The man with 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren living together is Mr. Ziona Chana, a famous figure in the northeastern Indian state of Mizoram. He is the head of a polygamous Christian sect called Lalpa Kohhran Thar (roughly translated: "Church of the New Generation"), founded in 1942 by his uncle.
Unusual family life
Mr. Ziona was born in 1945 and married his first wife when he was only 17. During his life, he had a total of 39 wives, 94 children, 33 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, making a total of 181 family members. They all live together in a 4-storey house with about 100 rooms in Baktawng village, Mizoram state.
Community and Religion
The Lalpa Kohhran Thar sect he led allowed male members to marry multiple wives, as long as they were able to provide for them. The sect believed in the return of Jesus and his 1,000-year reign on Earth, as described in the Bible's Revelation 20.
Daily Life
Ziona's family was self-sufficient, with activities such as farming, animal husbandry, and woodworking. His wives took turns caring for him on a schedule, while his sons participated in farm work and his daughters helped with housework. Their house became a local tourist attraction.
Death and Legacy
Ziona passed away on June 13, 2021, at the age of 76. After his death, his family continued to live in the communal house and maintain the sect's activities.
