Geckos, although not harmful, can make you feel uncomfortable. To drive them out of the house, you can try some of the methods below.

Geckos are common creatures in homes. They often move along walls, ceilings, and even climb on furniture, crawling around to search for food.

While geckos can be inconvenient, they are not harmful to humans and can even help eliminate other pests such as mosquitoes, cockroaches, and moths.

However, geckos can transmit salmonella bacteria, similar to other reptiles, through their feces. Therefore, their presence in the house poses a potential health risk.

Below are some natural, safe ways to help you drive geckos out of your home.

Using eggshells

You may not know this, but geckos are afraid of the smell of eggshells. Therefore, you can use this ingredient to repel them from your house.

Clean the eggshells, let them dry, then crush them into small pieces. Place the crushed eggshells in areas where geckos often travel. When they smell it, they will instinctively run away.

Using garlic

Garlic is a strong-smelling spice that many creatures dislike. You can place garlic in areas where geckos tend to gather, and they will never dare to appear again.

Using black pepper

Black pepper has a pungent smell and is also a substance that repels geckos. Place black pepper in a spray bottle, add a little water, and mix well. Spray the pepper water in areas where geckos frequently pass by or hide, and you can easily drive them away.

Using chili peppers

Geckos dislike spicy food. Therefore, you can mix chili sauce (or finely chopped fresh chili, or chili powder) with water and spray it in areas where they often appear. The pungent smell of chili will make the geckos "never return."

Using cold water

You may not know this, but geckos are very afraid of cold water. If you see a gecko and want to catch it, you can spray cold water on it. The cold water will slow the gecko down, and it may even freeze, unable to move. At that point, you can catch it and take it outside.
