TOO POOR FOR HER ?

“A poor guy like you wants to pursue me?”

Emily Carter worked in a luxury fashion company and dreamed of marrying a rich, successful man.

One rainy afternoon, she met Daniel Hayes at a small coffee shop.

Daniel wore a plain white shirt, old sneakers, and carried a worn backpack. He smiled warmly and asked if he could share the last empty seat.

Emily looked at him from head to toe.

Emily: “Sorry, I don’t usually sit with strangers.”

Daniel smiled politely.

Daniel: “It’s just a seat.”

She reluctantly agreed.

They talked for a while, and Emily was surprised by how intelligent and calm he was.

Before leaving, Daniel asked:

Daniel: “Would you like to have dinner sometime?”

Emily laughed softly.

Emily: “You seem nice, but I’m not looking for a poor boyfriend.”

Daniel’s smile faded for a second.

Daniel: “How do you know I’m poor?”

Emily glanced at his shoes.

Emily: “You don’t need to tell me.”

She stood up, left a few bills on the table, and walked away.

Daniel remained silent.

Over the next few weeks, they met several times by coincidence.

Daniel always treated her kindly, while Emily kept her distance.

One evening, she saw him getting off a crowded bus.

Her friend whispered:

Friend: “See? I told you he has no money.”

Emily shook her head.

Emily: “A man without ambition can never be my future.”

What she didn’t know was that Daniel had deliberately hidden his identity.

He was the only grandson of William Hayes, chairman of the billion-dollar Hayes Global Group.

William had asked him to live without luxury for one year before taking over the company.

Smart businessman is sitting in the car car while his young assistant is opening door for him.

A month later, Emily’s company was invited to a charity gala hosted by Hayes Global.

The entire city was talking about one thing:

“The mysterious heir of Hayes Global will appear tonight.”

Emily wore her most expensive dress, hoping to meet the future billionaire.

When the ballroom doors opened, everyone turned toward the stage.

The host announced:

“Please welcome the future chairman of Hayes Global… Mr. Daniel Hayes.”

Emily froze.

The man walking onto the stage was the same “poor” guy from the coffee shop.

Except now he was wearing a perfectly tailored black suit, surrounded by executives and photographers.

Her face went pale.

After the speech, Emily pushed through the crowd.

Emily: “Daniel… why didn’t you tell me?”

He looked at her calmly.

Daniel: “Would it have changed the way you treated me?”

Emily had no answer.

She forced a smile.

Emily: “I think we started off wrong.”

Daniel studied her eyes for a moment.

Daniel: “No, Emily. We started honestly.”

A few days later, Emily asked to meet him.

They sat in the same coffee shop where they first met.

This time, she was nervous.

Emily: “I judged you too quickly.”

Daniel: “You judged me by my shoes.”

Emily: “I’m sorry.”

Daniel smiled gently.

Daniel: “Do you know what hurt the most?”

She looked up.

Daniel: “Not that you thought I was poor.”

He paused.

Daniel: “But that you believed a poor man was unworthy of being loved.”

Emily’s eyes filled with tears.

For a moment, she thought he might forgive her and give their story another chance.

Instead, Daniel stood up.

Daniel: “One day you’ll meet a man who has nothing.”

He placed money on the table.

Daniel: “I hope you treat him better than you treated me.”

He walked away without looking back.

Months later, Emily saw Daniel again on television, taking over Hayes Global.

Reporters called him “the youngest billionaire chairman in the country.”

She smiled sadly.

Not because she had lost a billionaire.

But because she had lost the only man who had loved her before she knew who he really was.
