When a Loved One Passes Away: 4 Things You Should Think Twice Before Throwing Away
After a loved one passes, some items should be kept.
On flights, the takeoff and landing phases are critical for ensuring safety. During these times, the flight crew must coordinate closely with air traffic control, which manages aircraft movement in and around the airport, as well as personnel and vehicles operating in active areas. Active mobile devices can interfere with communication between pilots and air traffic controllers, causing disruptive "beeping" sounds that can compromise the clarity of transmitted information. This interference can lead to dangerous situations if messages are not accurately conveyed. Additionally, it can distract the captain and crew members responsible for the flight's safety.
Aviation experts assert that using phones during these times can have severe consequences, especially during the critical 15-20 minutes it takes to reach an altitude of 3,000 meters. Reports indicate that phone signals can disrupt aircraft navigation and landing systems. According to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, over 1,300 jetliners have cockpit equipment susceptible to interference from mobile devices. Between 2003 and 2009, there were 75 incidents where phone signals affected aircraft systems.
To ensure safety, passengers are advised to either turn off their mobile devices completely or switch them to "airplane mode" throughout the flight.
