When you look at these embroidery designs, it’s hard to distinguish what is real food and what is made from threads. The Japanese artist known as Ipnot masterfully tricks our eyes with her incredible, realistic embroidery designs that look like miniature meals ready to be served. All of this created with just a needle and a thread!
The self-taught artist uses the French knot (a stitch technique which creates a nubbly, three-dimensional dot) to recreate the finest details of her embroideries. Her realistic pieces are made from her amazing collection of 500 different colors of yarn. From fresh-looking strawberries that we’re all probably craving by now to delicious-looking pizzas with some melting cheese on top of them and bowls of ramen with noodles wrapped around chopsticks, the artist definitely makes our mouths water.
Ipnot grew up surrounded by very creative and crafty people who inspired her to make art. However, she became particularly interested in embroidery because of her grandmother, who made it look enjoyable and relaxing. “When I was young, I was looking at my grandma’s creations through embroidery and that inspired me a lot to pursue my dream into this business. That’s why I decided to start my own embroidery business, which is my passion and the love of my life,” said the artist to Bored Panda.
